Returned about two hours ago from this place (a 4-hour drive), with the
extemporaneous poetry still ringing in my ears.
What a magnificent feat! avadhAni nAgaphaNi Sarma reeled gems of poems
one after another, completing a varnana here, an Asuvu there, a datta padi
here, and a samasya there, many times giving the whole poem at a stretch,
to save the total time for the event.
It started at about 9:30 and was still going on at 8:30 pm, when I HAD to
leave. Leaving for LA on an early morning flight, Sunday.
Nagulapalli Srinivas came from DC. Prabhakar Vissavajjhala from NY,
Chodavarapu Prasad (would he give us his complete name once again, in
this forum?) from Rochester, Kotapati Sambasiva Rao and NASY from the
Philedelphia area, Juvvadi Ramana from Jesey (?), Vadaparthy (now I know
how to pronounce it - vADaparti) Kumar from Morrisville, NJ, and perhaps
some others that I am forgetting ot have not noticed.
No, Ramabhadra Rao & Phani - I thought you deserved a special mention, coming
all the way from Atlanta.
I am sure this avadhAnam will result in several posts from several of
the participants and audience from several angles. I wanted to take a first
shot at it, 'cos I may not be able to post (wanna bet?) for a while, if
"rAcakAryAlu" won't allow it. A variety sampler from the day:
