Sree'kaaraa'niki puraskaaram
----------------------------

A few weeks ago, I posted about an endeavor by the fans
of the famous Telugu short story writer, Sree kaaLeepaTnam
raamaa_raavu, to present him with a purse to celebrate his
72nd birthday on November 9, 1996.

Sree kaaLeepaTnam was initially reluctant to accept a purse,
but has agreed to accept it and use that money to build a
'kathaalaaym', a research and resource center for Telugu
short story. The building will be maintained by an
autonomous trust, and will have living quarters for a
curator, a reference library, a reading room and a
meeting room. kaaraa maasTaaru will act as the curator
during his lifetime. The building, to be situated in
SreekaakuLam, is expected to be like a similar one
run in Karanataka, providing resources and succour
to aspiring short story writers and researchers.
As an ardent admirer of Telugu short story and
the works of Sree kaaLeepaTnam, I am really excited
about this project.

The kathaalaayam is already under construction, and
the organizers hope to finish the construction by
November 9. This project is, of course, expensive and
depends on generous contributions of the admirers of
Telugu short story and Sree kaaLeepaTnam raamaa-raavu.
Given the short span of time left, you can send your
contributions directly to:
