I agree that the talk is really premature. But I don't think Indian
govt requires much reason to ban a book as evidenced by Vasireddy
Seetadevi's Mareechika or Satanic Verses.
However, there are many reasons for putting a book on the internet. It
would send a strong message that any attempt to silence a book or an
author by force would backfire and earn lot of bad publicity. Whether
it is possible or not depends on how cooperative and sympathetic
the publishers are.
I don't consider retyping 800+ pages as worthwhile. But if it can be
done with little effort like getting the source itself, it is
putting it on the internet would be a novel form of protest.
