You didn't spell it wrong sir! Both spellings are correct.
(Ref. Webster's Online Dictionary) or www.m-w.com

I would say zero. That's what is safe for me!

"poem" I suppose can be used for not only "padyam" but also for
"vacana kavita" (like verse).

But, true! the combo "si.naa.re's poem" sounds comical!

I will write about vishwambhara in course of time (not necessarily
appreciating it). I have heard some horrible songs written by si.naa.re
(chik chik pullaTa sung by Jesudas etc). I also agree that he used a
lot of unnecessary verbiage and unimaginative word combinations just to
get some rhyme.

ex: mUlaku paDDAyi viccu koraDAlu
    mUgavaDDAyi picci saradAlu.
       (saradAlu is incongruous here)
    pancukuna viluva okaTE
pencukunna paruvu okaTE. (paruvu again is out of context).

It seems to me that the kAvyam started of well (beginning of section 1
is really impressive. will transliterate it next time) and degenerated
afterwards. I did say that those lines from Section 5 are not the best.

I posted them because, they had the focus not on the individual but
on the society. The leftist images "aruNa kiraNa paTAlAlu" etc
also made me wonder if most of the present "popular" poets
(controversial or non-controversial) are leftist!
(I don't know much about the history of vi.ra.sam etc)
