Hello All,

I was just browsing thru the net and stumbled onto an interesting web =
page called the "Thinker" - it's an internet based poetry, art and =
photography magazine.=20

For those who are interested, the web page address is: =
http://members.aol.com/thinkerla/index.html

I am just reproducing here their guidelines for what kind of poetry they =
would like to receive - I think some of the issues that have dominated =
the recent threads are touched upon in this.

Here goes:

***** Start of extract *****

Guidelines for Poetry:

We will not print anything that is longer than thirty-two lines. We are =
interested in any kind of poetry; however, the types of poetry that are =
most likely to be published are the following types or a combination of =
them:

1. Poetry that gives good visual images=20
2. Poetry that causes people to think about something which the poem =
suggests=20
3. Poetry that gives the reader insight into something profound=20
4. Poetry that effectively conveys emotion to the reader=20

As I said, these are things we especially look for in submissions. =
Poetry without them will still be considered and, likewise, poetry with =
them is not guaranteed to be accepted.
When submitting via email, please make the subject of the email, "poetry =
submission."
Although we are not a censored digest, we will not print work that =
contains racial, sexual and ethnic slurs. We will print pieces that =
contain profanity if we feel it is not used in excess and that it is =
used appropriately.
Obviously, the author grants The Thinker the rights to print any and all =
work submitted in The Thinker. We retain the right to reprint their work =
in a Thinker Anthology and/or "Greatest Hits" and/or other form of media =
with relation to The Thinker at a later date. If an author does not want =
his work to be included in any such collection, he must notify the =
editor. Authors retain all their rights, with the exception that they =
grant us the above said rights.
Submissions are accepted via email or snail mail. We allow five poems =
per author per month to be submitted. Email submissions should be in the =
body of the email- they should not be sent as attached files. Please =
include an email address or a self-addressed, stamped envelope in snail =
mail submissions so that we may contact you regarding the acception or =
rejection of you submission. Snail mail submissions can be sent to the =
address listed below for art submissions.
One feature of The Thinker that makes it somewhat different than other =
publications is that sometimes when we receive a submission, we will =
offer what we feel is good advice on how to improve the piece. If you =
ask for comments, you most likely get them; otherwise, you may or may =
not. We do this in part because we feel that a flat rejection letter can =
be hurtful and/or discouraging. It is also our belief that the =
submission process can and should be an educational one. If you have any =
more questions, please let us know.
