One problem is the transient nature of these students. Actually, they
being grad students, usually stay at a place for two-to-five years, and
can accomplish quite a lot in that time.
However, permanent organizations such as ATA, TANA, various telugu
associations throughout the country should tap the expertise and energy
of these students in setting up permanent facilities. While such organizations
are discussing and debating the need/feasibility of such sites, I would
hope that they finally decide to just provide the resources, and a broad
general direction (even that may not be necessary) and leave the major
task of setting up the site to these energetic folks.
Then, even when they leave the University in pursuit of greener pastures,
they could still be around to update/upgrade, and provide the necessary
software/hardware support for these. As a matter of fact, one of these
organizations could simply setup a shell site at this time, and provide links t
to all the currently available homepages. Perhaps Kiran Ravuri can do that
himself. Or has already done that. I will look up his homepage.
About running a magazine and a crossword puzzle, these are better done on
Web pages than in a group like this, which has to contend with the lowly
ascii character set. If/when the cross word is setup in a homepage,
I am sure that the puzzle could be setup as a graphical image, and the
clues be seen in telugu script. Is this preferable? It certainly is
possible.
I know of several people who dabble in creating crossword puzzles. One in
this group. DRR, do you have one ready?
