Really want to have a (long) list of such films :-)? I wrote often on
beedala paaTlu on net and also on Silas Marner (and Chaplin's comments).
You are right about varuDu kaavaali. pedda manushulu is based on Ibsen's
_Pillars of the society_. Even your favourite star's legendary "paavuramaa"
song is based on a Rita Hayworth's number from Blood and Sand of 1941,
and her apoorva sahOdarulu, 1951 (Dumas's Three Corsican brothers,
Hindi: Nishan), and ... and ..... naagayya's famous "naa yillu" is based
on Samuel Butler's novel. The list is really long.
