Subject: A few thoughts on Palana's weekend thoughts & others

I agree completely with Nasy's opinion that TV and Radio are more effective
means of spreading usage of a language/dialect than literature. The efficacy
of TV and Radio is for obvious reasons.

Now, a question: Nasy wrote "maanDaleekam" for dialect. PALANA and I wrote
"maan(m)Dalikam". Which is correct? My choice is "maanDalikam" and my
reasoning is: if "manDalam" is a region, then something related (or specific)
to a region should be "maanDalikam" and not "maanDaleekam". (I think Sri
Prabhakar or someone mentioned that the _anunaasikam_ should come from
the same row in the alphabet and for that reason I prefer _maanDalikam_
to _maamDalikam_ ) Any corrections?

- rao

p.s. I forgot to mention above that _literature_ is a major component of the
output of TV and Radio -- my opinion. and what i conceded was, literature
delivered through traditional means (read: in print) is not as effective as
TV or Radio.
