I think the discussion on Mandalikas
(This means Accent only... right) arrived at
a conclusion that literature (all the artforms
for that matter) has to have a room for all the
styles and dictionaries also have to be developed
to make sure that these works will be understood
in future (or in a different region where this
style doesn't exist).
This reminds me about my father (a telugu
teacher) talking about GODHULI. He wonders how one
can explain this to the next generation. May be
the next generation understands only the VahanaDhuli
(suggest me a better name). I am trying to imply
that the change in the language is automatic. The
way the society changes we cannot stop the language
from changing. Infact it is very much neccessary
for the developement of any language. I remember my
uncle (who is staying in Madras for the past 30 years)
talking about how Tamil has been changing with time.
Do we now have the appropriate words for BUS, Express
etc.. (I am not recollecting other words. Please
don't attack me with the words that can replace these
two. Try to understand my point). We need to create
new words to mean the new things arriving into our
society and living.
Here : Q 1: Why should we create a new word ? Instead
We can addopt the same word into our Lang !
Q 2: If we got to intoduce a new word into the
lang., what should be the criterion ? Who
should be allowed to do that ?
I think the answer for first question is... we shouldn't
addopt words from aliens like English or other Europion
languages. Because our origin (I mean Telugu's) is
definetely not that. (I know the BEERAKAYA PEECHU
relation of Telugu to Europion languages via Sanskrit).
But.... I don't know what could be the right direction
to do so. I learned from my uncle that it quite frequent
in Tamil that they introduce new words. We may take that
as an example.
I wanted to talk about Mandalikas and terribly
deviated from the topic. OK few words about that also.
Today there are no bounderies in the world itself.
Its now totally mixed up in AP. So the language
is gradually taking a shape which everyone can
understand. This is very much automatic and we cannot
and need not stop. It is going to be a right mixture
of all the accents.
I can quote me as an example.
My parents are from Krishna district. At house I talk
in that lang... "emiti" "enduku". My early years I
lived in banks of Godavari (Bhadrachalam)... I learned
a light accent of Goavari also. Then I moved to Hyd
for my higher education. "Inka cheppetanduk emley...
geeda mastu telangana nerchina". My relatives complain
that I speak Telangana. My friends at Hyd complain
that I speak Andhra.
Coclusion(?!?!) : Any language has to change from time to
time. New words, accents will come and go. We have to
welcome it. All the changes should be weldocumented
in the form of literature and dictionaries.
This is my loud thinking. Please do correct me if I am
not in right direction.
Regards,
B. Akki Raju.
