i remember reading an article in a telugu university journal that
claims that pampa bharatam actually inspired nannayya in more than one way
to take up bharata racana. it seems that nannayya was peeved by pampa's
treatment of bharatam in a non-dhArmik(english-telugu samasam!) way.
as pampa was a jain, his view of bharatam wasn't exactly digestible to
the vaidic scholars. it was claimed in that article narayana bhattu was
a scholar of kannada and his main job was to help nannayya in the study
and comparison of pampa bharatam to his own version.
i am not able to recall the author's name at this point.
may be aravinda garu can help me in this regard as we discussed
this point sometime in august/september of last year.
