R and ru

To add another point, It has to be akroora so as not to violate prAsa. 
As it was pointed out earlier, R is a vowel (like it or not) and so kR is 
not a dwitvAkshara like kr in chakrAyudha. 

For each word. it is already determined whether it should be r or R
and it has to be remembered just like we remember all the other
words. If we come across the same word written with r or R 
interchangeably, one is likely to be an error. Though we make fun of it,
the letter R (aroo), for several reasons, is not likely to become extinct 
like aloo and banDi ra.
