Firstly, SrISrI is a great poet ! I have no qualms about it !!

I think that the literature produced by SrISrI and his followers has
significant influence in bringing in some fundamental changes in psyche
and outlook of telugus. I admire their literature, not so much for the
propagation Marxist ideas, but for inculcatating rationality, scientific
outlook and bold-questioning in telugu minds as opposed to the blind-belief.

Now about my understanding of the pitfalls of Marxism-- Marx assumed that
the conflicts between individuals disappear once we get rid of the economic
structure that leads us to compete in the market place. Unfortunately, it
seems, this is false. Human nature is such that there always exists a
conflict between reason and desire, between one individual's desire and
another or between individual and society. Many a communist govt, in an
attempt to implement the Marxist state, ended-up forcing individuals to
comply to the wishes of the state, which IMHO, resulted in totalitarianism
govt. and a sorta slavery. This is an anti-thesis to Marxist ideas, as
Marx cherished freedom and hated sub-ordination.

Yes, we should condemn slavery. But for that we need not embrace Marxism !

Suresh.
