How about avadhaanam as a team sport, with a "defense" and an "offense"
a la cricket, baseball, or (with some variation) American football? pRcchakaas
as the defense, avadhaanis as the offense, points to be scored when a
problem is solved by the avadhaani. There will be a time limit for
solving the problem. The scoring scheme will determine whether an avadhaani
will score without limit (as in cricket) or with a limit (as in baseball).
When the offensive side's inning is over, it will be the turn of the
defense (pRcchakaas) to become avadhaanis. The American football twist comes
when a team is allowed to have separate avadhaani and prcchaka subteams.
Details such as scoring scheme etc. to be worked out.
Will it play in Pedavutapalli? Will lehar-Pepsi sponsor it?
I think it would be fun to develop this idea, though I am myself not
knowledgeable about the technical aspects of avadhaanam. We could then
post it to scit, and then, who knows, we could have avadhaanam contests
via the net.
