The responses so far seem to say, 'yes, it is true that
avadhaanam is more like a spectator sport, and one should not expect
great kavitvamu from it. One should just enjoy the avadhaanamu for the
immediate gratification it provides, but not expect any more than that.
It is the avadhaani's skill that is on display here.' There seems to be
almost unanimous agreement with the sentiments expressed by raammOhan
raai (quoted in the previous post).

Many posters in this and previous threads compared avadhaanamu to
gymnastics. That brings to mind what Srisri once said:

"tirupati venkaTa kavula avadhaanaalanu coosE avakaaSam naaku
lEkapOyindi. kaani anduku konta Odaarpugaa kODi raamamoorti sarkasu,
taaraabaayi sarkasu laantivi choodagaligaanu. asaadhaaraNa
bala_pradarSanalO avi avadhaanaalakE maatramoo teesipOvu. dommari
vidayalalO kanipincE Ekaagrata, kramaSikshaNa ityaadulu antagaa koTTi
paareyyavalasindi enta maatramoo kaadu." (Srisri, naanunci nEti
daakaa, 1980).
