Results: Telugu short story and poetry competition

Here are the results of the story and poetry competition conducted by the
Vanguri Foundation of America (a non-profit organization dedicated to
promote literature, cultural arts and charity; Federal Tax ID
76-04444238; address:  3918 Green Crest Dr., Houston,TX 77082 Tel: 713-493
9054 Fax: 713 499 8179)  in the spring of 1997.  The judges for the
short-story competition are V.R.Veluri, Chowdary Jampala, Raghunath
Kidambi, and Srinivasa Rao Kalasapudi. The judges for the poetry
competition are Kidambi Raghunath,  Putcha Vasanta Lakshmi and
P.Seshu Sarma.

The  following are the results of the competition:
Short Story
	First prize:   `Teminacha -Namitecha` by Satyam Mandapati		
	Second prize:	`Ori, Bhagavanthuda! ..   by S. Narayana Swami
Poetry
	First Prize: `Om, Bhuh` by K.V.S. Rama Rao	
	Second Prize: `Chaturmukhudu` by Varigonda Subbarao	

Vanguri Foundation congratulates these prize winners and expresses their
deep appreciation and gratitiude to all of those who participated in the
competion. The foundation hopes to continue this activity so that our
writers can always be assured of a  "platform" on which their talents can
be unveiled.

The prize winning entries in both categories are to be published in the July
1997 issue of Telugu Jyothi, Edited by Kidambi Raghunath.

All the short stories, that are entered into the competion and that met the
standards, are being published as our Fourth volume of America Telugu
Kathanika, which will be released at the forthcoming TANA convention in Los
Angeles

your continuing support and participation.
