I noticed just one error in the mail, in the above line. Around
"soudhasudhalaku". It is a mAtra too long.

seesa padyam having 6-indra gaNas plus two sUrya gaNas in each line, is not
only of variable syllabic length, but is also of variable mAtra-count. Of
the six indra gaNas, na-la, na-ga, sa-la, bha, ra, ta; na-la and bha are
4-mAtras, and the rest are 5-mAtras each.

There is a certain improvement in readability (or singability) when all the
indra gaNas chosen are of equal measure. SreenAthuDu aTlA cEsADani evarO
annaTlu cadivAnu.

While I was reading the lines, I stopped once at the "laagalEkanu vEsavi
kaaga lEka" line. It almost "looked" like an ATaveladi line. Again, it is
the shortest tETageeti line, both from syllabic (12-17) and mAtra-count
(17-19) considerations.

The next place was the line containing the word "soudhasudhalaku". I had to
read it a couple of times to spot the place, but even after knowing it, it
doesn't "sound" incorrect! It is incorrect as far as the metrical
structural rules. But when I read the second half of that line as

        soudha-sudhalaku-vinta-souru goorci

it reads well. I had a similar "problem" a while ago. Of course it is
seesa padyam line.

        tana sookti muktAvaLee paThanambucE sakala Subhamulu goorcu subbarAju

- an almost identical situation.

GOF (and all the mArga) vRttas, or kanda padyam, do not have this bug/feature.

Regarding GSS's RtughOsha padyaalu. Distinct from the usual RtuvarNana
poems which deal with objectionable stuff such as prEyasi/prEma/viraham,
these have that PC sAmAjika spRha, dealing with the plight of the labouring
class. What SreeSree(*) said of mudigonDa veerabhdra mUrti (re: his
"bhArata swAtantrya sangrAmamu", a padya-kAvyam) "prAceena sampradAyAlanu
pATistU, naveena vishayAlanu uggaDincina kavitwam idi. nEnu sampradAya
virOdhini kAnani cAlAmandiki teliyadu. pAta vishayAlanu pAta vidhAnAlalO
ceppina viSwanAtha vAri racanalnu kUDA nEnu meccukOgalanu" applies here.

PS: the compiler added various footnotes to situations and personalities
mentioned in SreeSree's narratives. My recent post giving some details on
the poet "sahadEva" borrowed from from one such footnote. I think I
indicated the source of the material there. While I "edited" the footnote
for brevity, here it is, in its entirety:

        sahadEva sUrya prakASa rAvu: (1908-84): tolitaram bhAvakavullOni vADu.
        rAjamanDri nivAsi. munisipal hai skool-lO telugu adhyApakuDigA pani
        cESADu. munimApu (1928), vakuLamAla (1932) itani bAgA pEru pondina
        khanDa kAvyAlu. caturika (navala 1926), sarOjini (nATakam 1927),
        ArAdhana (kadhalu 1936), rUpa kaLa (citra lEkhana grandham 1972) veeri
        itara racanalu. arakshaNeeya (Sarat bAbu navala) tolitelugu anuvAdam

The reference to sahadEva himself, was in a fairly long review of
"madhu-keela", a poetical work by mallavarapu viSwESwara rAvu. He detailed
the whole evolution of bhAva kavitwam in this review. Read the following
with some patience.

That was the reference to sahadEva, that prompted a footnote by calasAni
prasAd, extracts from which I posted as a follow-up to varigonDa subbA
rAvu's post on ja-ruk-SAstri's parodies, which prompted a post from
parucUri SreenivAs requesting some 'proof' as to sahadEva being the first
to translate Sarat. I can offer nothing else beyond what I listed here. In
fact, before VSR's post (happened to read Views-Reviews the same day - one
of those 'coincidences' that I am beginning to count on) I knew not who
sahadEva is/was. Well, not quite. I always knew sahadEva to be nakula's
twin brother, with a great deal of horse sense. But that is another era in
itself.
