Lest I should be disgust
Trust, please I must;
Just what's said in jest
May be sometimes in zest
gets such dust on me, the pest;
In earnest
before I rest
It's best I insist....

Oh! boy o! boy I am on a roll with this sinaare-syndrome!
Must cut it out!!

"--- For example, any chandas that can fit a "vElUri" can fit
"Elooru" with equal ease. I could have easily said:

okacO Deryanu pouruDaina mana vEloorin samardhincedan
or oka ElUru purasthuDaina ghana vEloorin ....

(it is not my intention to drag chandas into discussion here, but ...)
take an utpala/campaka-mAla. Write out the sequence of UI's. Not a
single-UU there! How do you fit an "Elooru" or "vEloori" there? (yes,
you can. left for inquiring minds as an exercise. It is not that
difficult to figure out) One would think that a "vEloori" would
fit appropriately, only into a SArdUlam!---"

If it helps as a precedence for some 'peculiar' useage for the
name of Elooru; let me cite a line from an utpalmaala by no other
than the avadhaana greats of all time; Sree tirupati kavulu:

"Eluriyandu raakomire kiyyeDa penDili yaunaTalnaa daa
nEloko ........" in reference to the marriage of the second daughter
of Sree Raja Mantripragada Bhujanga Rao Bahaddar of Elooru! See, they
said in the beginning itself 'Eluriyandu' not Elooriyandu.' ( I know,
I know the reasons. please!)

So, using hElapuri for hElApuri(!) is to be poetically accepted!!

"---I am saddened by this egregious attack on sanskrit. I don't know
why a change from Erla-vooru to Erlooru and then to Elooru is "not too
bad", the perpetrators dismissed as "illiterate", "doralu", whereas the
hElApuri is considered a "forcible change", and the perpetrators of it
"Sanskrit zealots".---"

Only at two sites in Elooru the 'sanskritized' form hElaapuri appears:
One, at the hElaapuri samskRta paaTha Saala, a free Sankrit School
(just about 200 yards from my ancestral home!),

secondly at the hElaapuri vEda paaTha Saala (about half a mile
from the Sanskrit School!), and no where else!! This is just for
your information.

VVR, putting him on a pedestal adorned by kuntaka, and kshEmEndra.
Perhaps he felt insulted by the touch of these chAndasas.---"

ayyayyO, yentamaaTa! yentamaaTa! May be I was afraid of the
positively undeserved 'flattery!'

What do they say in Latin? -- timeo Danaos et dona ferentis-- or
something like that, meaning I fear the Greeks even when they
bring gifts!

In the battle of matching 'wits' (no, no no! it must read,-
In the game of matching wits!) with you, I proudly confess
I always lose!

Ramakrishna gaaroo! You are always a winner in my mind!

"---While I had some "anumAnam" about my previous post, I have none
about this. This is clearly an irrelevant post, better sent as a
personal mail. There wouldn't be any more on this topic from my part,
     period---" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
