Like-meaning words!

  One example of it, which I cannot forget is, one Mr.X's attempt to learn 
Hindi from his room-mates. His polite intention of encouraging guests to eat 
more was uttered in Hindi as "bina sharm kavO", instead of "sharmaav math"!
The only way the difference was ably conveyed to him was to translate his
utterance into Telugu as:
"siggu lEkunDa tinamDi" instead of intented "siggu paDakumDa tinamDi" !!

Looking at how mean the meaning of words can get, may be there isn't anything
called "like-meaning words"!
