'some' literary stuff, more preachings (a-i-a inflammatory)

Followingup to selected postings from the past 4-5 days on this forum ......

Sri KVSRR wrote about "the lot of enthusiasm created by current
Avadhanis". We had a brief thread on the 'sudden upsurge' of avadhaanam-s
on Telusa & SCIT a while ago. I believe that, as I wrote before, the
reasons for this popularity are to be found elsewhere. The key-word here
is: cultural hegemony. Its not new to Telugu country. Even in the early
decades of this century such politics existed. Presently there are only
two 'top' avadhaani-s. If the 3rd "avadhaani", belonging to another
(powerful) caste of A.P had a 'little' more talent, I believe that we
'd have seen a triangular fight.

Degressing a bit on Jashua (one of my all-time-favourites) and his
writings in traditional prosodical metres ........

having known Tummala Seetaaraama Murthy (personally well) and very close
freinds/followers of Tripuraneni Ramaswamy, Duvvuri (no intro. needed,
I hope), Kotta Satyanarayana (better known for his reviews on VSN's _SRKV_
in "bhaarati" in 60s) and Joshua, I understand that its not their 'love'
towards prosody that made them write that way. Here also reasons lie
elsewhere! I wish that the others (from above mentioned) also wrote more
on contemporary subjects like Joshua.

To Sri VSR's followup to my post....

Yes sir, I did go through the URL mentioned by you before and am/was aware
that you were quoting the Dutch Prof's interpretation. My question (rather
curiosity!) was 'why choose Kant'? IMHO you certainly deserve a high respect
for having read and understood Kant (no flattering!). I, personally, gave
up long ago and hear similar words from my local friends. So, how about
sticking to our own Telugu literary critics' comments on same topic for the
benefit of mortals like me. Lets say quoting from raa.raa, R.S.S et al ...
If the foreign tongue and foreigners' quotes were to add more weight to
support your argument, there are certianly a few who wrote on aesthetics,
esp. keeping plebians like me in mind.

What about the usage of; "telugu raani vaaLLu", "chando-challenged", .....!
Would it be asking for too much, to recall the old threads; who, when,
where, what said etc. Telusa archives may be of some help to find out
what NNCP-s (non-nonchando proponents) wrote here before.

Its also not asking for too much, hopefully, to practice what was
preached here from time to time; i.e. not to post "irrelevant" stuff &
to keep the message length to a max of ~2 screens. But the same come
up with some excuses and cheeky explanations violating the same rules
defined by them. I can't resist myself quoting the famous Telugu proverb:
raaju gaaru chEstE SRngaaram .....

Sreenivas

P.S. Thanks to Sri Udaya Bhaskar for pointing out the bug (?) in majordomo
software. I had faced this problem a month ago. I should have warned
all the list members about the same. my aplogies!
