Ram ramarao gaaru makes a couple of points.
The first one is that there are long periods in society which does not
have much great literature. However, I do not see the current period as
one without literature or one without good literature. There is a lot that
is written in Telugu in the last quarter of a century that is good, or
even great. My earlier point is that the tools for the current day
literature have changed and chando poetry is not a tool in vogue anymore.
If I have to make a wager, I would wager that it is unlikely that chandO
poetry becomes a mainstream literary tool in future. The times, they have
changed. Irrevocably, I think.
Second, he cites jashua's gabbilamu and SmaSaanamu as examples of how
moder themes can be tackled with chandO themes. The fact that he has to go
that far back should tell us something.
