Mr. Ambati Ramanarao and I were discussing one day about Telugu in
Braille or brailled Telugu for blind people to learn Telugu or read anything
in Telugu.
How much we have progressed in this area?
1) There is a lady (I forgot her name) in Visakha, who brailled Bhagavad
Gita in Telugu. Unfortunately, she suspended her project in the
middle due to lack of funds.
2) Are there any Telugu Scholars who are blind (either by birth or
became blind during development/aging)?
Yes! Mr. Ambati told me that he had a colleague at Tekkali Degree
College who is blind and a Telugu professor. I conceal his name
for other reasons. He teaches Telugu and is blind by birth.
It seems he studied Telugu using Brialled books. Therefore, there
are Telugu Literature books existing in Braille print.
Does anyone know who undertakes preparing Braille Telugu books
in India?
Is there such an organization in AP?
How far AP Govt., universities, and Sahitya Academy undertaking/
supporting Braille-related activities to educate blind Telugus?
3) So many things we discuss on Telusa these days.
We know several "mooga" writers. There may be several deaf writers.
Were there any blind Telugu writers?
It is entirely a different world for blind people. Interestingly
the blind Telugu professor colleague of Mr. Ambati could identify
rupee bills a lot faster than normal people just by touching.
Mr. Ambati asked him "mAshTArU! What is your imagination about
the rupee note?" What do you think he gave the reply...
That is left to your imagination.
