Yes, others did too (another name that comes to my mind is maddipaTla soori)
and certainly bollimunta was a prominent writer (our school library had his
above mentioned 16 vol. set and infact most of the Sarat's novels that I read,
were translated by him.), but I wanted to hear the names vEloori and
cakrapaaNi and the clues given indicated that, I hope.

Thanks for the information! I have n't come across a book titled;
_beedala paaTlu_ and always believed that only the film version
existed. The film made in 1950 was one of the very few films directed by the
'genius' K. Ramnoth. Though it was made simultaneously in Tamil
(ezhai padum padu) and Telugu, it had more Tamil flavour :) in it.
The film was based on Tamil 'translation' of _Les Miserables_ by
Sudhananda Bharati. Perhaps the film gave inspiration to 'translate'
the entire novel in to Telugu, as I strongly guess that no book of
such title appeared before 1955. The titles quoted by me above
(divyajeevanam and prEmasundari) are certainly not translations.
