If you mean MS Word or WordPerfect by Windows wordprocessing, I have a
couple of comments. It is extremely unlikely that somebody will come
up with a Telugu software which can work with MS Word. The reason is very
simple. The format of MS Word files is not open. Microsoft has no
intention of publishing it. Companies employ teams of
programmers to crack each other's formats. MS Word provides
macros to handle tricky situations but I doubt the macros are
powerful enough to handle something like RIT. Any MS Word macro based
scheme is more likely to be a direct keyboard mapping.

It is sad that most people are committing their documents
to an undocumented format. I think independent software
packages provide better hope than tying to the standard
DTP packages. Of course, the situation might change if
MS decides to add Indian language capability to MS Word.
