A slight exaggeration. sekreTaree is a mid 70s film. ANR and
vaNisRee were a hit pair from 1969 (starting with aatmeeyulu followed by
iddaru ammaayilu, bhalE rangaDu, dasaraa bullODu, prEm`nagar, bangaaru
baabu etc). Incidentally it is aarekapooDi (then kODoori) kowsalyaa dEvi's
novel chakrabhramaNam (as Dr. Chakravarti) that began the trend for ANR as
the navalaa naayakuDu. And prEm`nagar of aarEkapooDi preceded sekreTaree
(same producer, isn't it)?
yaddanapooDi was kind of like aasthaana rachayitri at annapoorNa
films. Some of her books were specifically written for their films (jai
javaan, bangaaru sankeLLu) etc. Others like prEmalEkhalu and
raadhaakRUshNa were made into films by them.
Sometime back, a few of us embarked on an exercise of identifying
Telugu films based on works not originally written for film. I believe
that YSR had the most films based on her works.

lalithadEvi is a pseudonym for a male writer with the same last
name. Wasn't vishNumaaya first published in aandhrajyOti?
Incidentally, even my female friends with highbrows look funny at
me when I say I like YSR's books.
yaddanapooDi wrote some very 'nice' short stories which were
published as an anthology in mid 60's.

PS: Mistaking vaasireDDi seetaadEvi for R. sandhyaaraaNi! apachaaramu
Saminchugaaka. It is like mistaking viSwanaatha for viSwaprasaad!
