sub:Dark skinned heroines.

draupadi is definitely black - Baparao already pointed out that her birth
name was 'kRshNa', as she was dark skinned. (an aside, for that matter,
arjuna also was dark skinned). In modern lit., I read one novel,
serialized in Andhra prabha, in which the heroine was black, but beautiful.
I think the novel's name (and that of the heroine) is neelima. Her husband
becomes a film star, leaves her and marries his co-star. koku wrote a
short novel (or a long story) called kurUpi, in which the heroine is
not only dark, but unattractive. He also wrote a galpika on the same theme.
Several of bApu's film heroines were dark, particularly vAniSree in
gOranta dIpam. SArada acted as a dark woman in 'oorvaSi'. Coming back to
mythology, several of the southern folk goddesses are dark, starting
with mInAkshi (she is depicted in green in color pictures!)
