This poem remainds me of a story my metarnal grand father has once told my
mother which I learned from her.
One of my grand father's friends has visited a big doctor in Madras with
hope he would cure his seemigly incurable ailment.
He was made to wait for his turn, paid a sum of Rs 100/- and finally the
doctor saw him. The doctor exmined him for several minutes and then
handed him over a prescription through his compounder in a sealed envelope.
The doctor, he was told, always gives his prescription to all patients
in sealed envelopes and the patients must religiously follow the instructions
and take the medicine(s) strictly. He was adviced to go home and open the
cover and carefully follow doctor's advice.
The gentle man came home, and opened the sealed envelope in front of all
family members, friends and relatives who are waiting to see what the great
doctor's advice was
The envelope contained a glazed white paper with lot of printing on
top of it and a signature of the doctor at the bottom. With decent
hand writing at the centre of the paper there was one line in telugu:
" annamu baagugaa namili mringa valenu"
- Syamala Rao.
