science has given us a variety of means
to communicate with each other. books, radio,
tv, internet and so on. as technology progressed,
we came up with more powerful media. still,
i feel that books continue to do a better
job than radio, radio than tv, tv than internet
and so on. why is it that the older media, although
are less directly appealing, turn out to be better.
its like comparing NY times with NPR, BBC world service
with BBC World TV/CNN, live tv action with irc.
is it just that the older th emedium, the more mature it is?
that's certainly not the case as u can get lot of trash in books too.
why is it that more powerful mediums provide less
wholesome experiences?
connecting the topic to telusa, telugu books
did and continue to do an excellent job. so does
AIR, especially the vijayawada station in contributing to
the telugu tEjamu. what is it that prevents tv from
doing so? DD never did anything more
than producing 1/2 hr. literary discussions
on thursday nights. eetv and jemini, and other
new channels are doing a little better job, but
they hardly show anything not related to films.
internet seems to do a little better job than tv,
as far as literary activities go, but then
its just samudramlO nITiboTTamta.
