Re: irrelevant posts

I remember now, sending the information about ATA to Sampath, at his request.
I also sent it to telusa-scit (meaning TELUSA and SCIT), because I
thought that that information would be of interest to the members of
both the groups.

While posting that to TELUSA can be justified (after all, various literary,
semi-literary, pseudo-literary, quasi-literary activities take place at
such functions), any subsequent discussion, on say, the propriety of
inviting politicians, or the quality of imported entertainment at such
functions, etc... becomes irrelevant. Discussion on the ashTAvadhAnam,
jAnapada gEyAlu, the conference souvenir are relevant. The food arrangements
are irrelevant. Sobha Naidu's Kuchipudi Programme is irrelevant; whereas
discussion of some lyrics in there may be relevant. It's a fine line,
you say! Depends on your visual acuity.

Most of the stuff in TELUSA is supposedly of interest to SCIT; some would
change the first word in this sentence to "all". While this may be an
arrogant statement to make, it is plain that much of the stuff in SCIT is
irrelevant to TELUSA; not that it would not be of interest to any member
of TELUSA.

In any case, Sampath's explanation is quite enough to put this matter
to rest. It is not the casual and occasional irrelevant posts that we
should formulate our rules upon; it is the insistent and flagrant
violations that we should be wary of.
