It MAY be a point for discussion in SCIT or SCI or some other discussion
group, but not in this group, TELUSA, which intends to discuss only
language, literature, grammar, usage, linguistics, telugu software, and
such closely related topics, all pertaining to language, and its expression
in a variety of forms. Of course, telugu language.
When discussing an issue not directly related to any of these, it is
incumbent on the writer to show a connection. More than once, people have
done so, adiyan included, establishing a connection however tenuous.
There are times, when one starts with a topic that fits the criteria for the
group, but subsequent discussions tend to stray away from it, and lose
(not loose) the connection. A recent case is that of a post by Tata Prasad,
where he discussed muLLapUDi's dialogues in a movie (which may be relevant),
but subsequent posts discussed just movies (which is irrelevant).
It is not to say that movies do not merit discussion (my personal opinion
notwithstanding); just that this is not the forum. Until recently, there
was only one other form (that I know of), SCIT, where any topic as long as
it refers to telugu people (telugu people and telugu movies have such a
unique connection) could be discussed, and follow-ups could be expected.
But now, thanks to Ampani Kumar and Oruganti Madhusudan, there is another
forum available. It is "www.telugu.com".
This forum has a nice "get-up", easy on the eyes, very user-friendly, and
invites your participation. Recently I myself have been posting opinions
on topics in this forum, realizing that TELUSA is not the forum for them.
I am copying this mail to "srb", as I believe he is not a member of
TELUSA, and as such would not recive this from TELUSA. I will also send
him a list of guidelines that were posted on and off, and to many
new members.
As far as moderation, auto-moderation, (whatever the difference may be)
are concerned, I don't think that the problem of irrelevant posts has
reached such a degree as to warrant it. Not to mention that as of now,
I haven't figured out how these procedures may be invoked, if they
can be invoked at all. It will have to wait until the triumphant return
of Ratnakar from India, for even a discussion of the possibilities.
It is interesting to note that the people who have commented on this
topic thus far (palana, tata, adiyan), all have posted irrelevant stuff
in this medium on occasion!
