(nakshatrAlu) kaMTE "AdhEyamu" (kaLLu) goppa tanamu ceppabaDiMdi.

When the supported (aadhEyamu) is given more importance, while leaving
the
support (adhAramu) aside, no matter however great it might be, it is
called
as "adhikAlaMkAra". (rhetoric of greatness!)
The example, given in the telugu and sanskrit poems, is rather
philosophical.
It explains how powerful are the three basic qualities of beings in
nature
(satva, rajas, tamas). The poem says "Though the stupendous universe is
submerged in the water, the three basic qualities never submerge".
In those days if one says something about the "three basic qualities of
beings in nature", it shouldn't have been difficult for the other to
understand. Time has changed, so I explain the rhetoric (alaMkAramu) in
a poem that I have written
tE: cooDa galugu kaMDlu coocETi tAralu,
eMta pedda vaina Emi goppa?
kaMDlu cooDa baTTi kanabaDe gaganAna
kaMDla goppa tanamu kAna rAde!
How can one appreciate the greatness of the stars, unless a person has
got eye sight to watch them?
Here the stars are the support (AdhAramu), because they are being
watched.
And the eyes are the supported (AdhEyamu), since they are the ones
watching.
Now, suppose there are no eyes to watch the stars then where is their
greatness?
I wanted to say that the eyes are great. That justifies the rhetorical
poem.
