namastE !

[Alert: A very irrelevant and anecdotal post .. in the vein of 'aprastuta
         prasangam']

[I had by mistake replied to KVSR garu and not to telusa ... hence the delay !
 Sorry Ramarao Ji !]

Continuing on the tangent set by Sri KVSR ( i delight in going off on tangents - in
fact I am hardly ever in the main stream ;-) for example: I am often in a strange
fix while posting on telusaa ... my respect for the members will not let me address
them without adding Sri or garu and my lazy fingers cry out in protest for making
them type extra !!), I will quote two telugu people.

First film actress Jayaprada : (in some interview on DD recollecting some emotional
moment) "naaku literal gaa eyes lOnci waater vaccEsindi". (sic)

Second a cousin of mine from Sattupalli, Khammam:
"alaa market ki veLLi vegetables teccukondaam pada raa. night ki curry cEsukOvaali
kadaa?!" (sic sic)

An oft quoted joke on this matter is that if two telugu people (in Hyd I guess)
meet, their conversation is more likely than not in English or Hindi !! This is
particularly true among students.

My relation to this subject and telusaa are linked very closely. I still have
somewhere among my tarred and zipped files, the scathing reply of Sri Palana
to my first ever mail on telusaa (I am sure no one else remembers :-)).

I had lamented on the fact that we were discussing telugu literature in english
on this forum, ofcourse writing the entire post in RTS ( another tangent: I know
many of us refer to is as RIT but I am inclined to make the distinction between
Rice Inverse Transliterator and Rice Transliteration Standard (I hope I got them
right) ). And Palana garu, in his inimitable style lambasted me in chaste wRITten
telugu going " ... mooDEnDla nunDiyu antaryouccu lO telugulO vraayuTaku prayatnincu
cunnADanE ...." :)

Sorry ... had to get this off my chest ! :)

regards,

Sankaram
