SAJA, the South Asian Journalists Association
(www.saja.org), invites entries for the 1998 SAJA
Journalism Awards. The annual contest - which honors
excellence in coverage of South Asia by the US and
Canadian media as well as outstanding reporting by
South Asian journalists and students in the US and
Canada -- is in its second year. It has been expanded
to 10 categories, including cash prizes for broadcast
and new media. No, you don't have to be South Asian to
enter: we have already received TV entries about Mother
Teresa's funeral and about Americans of South Asian
origin done by non-South Asian reporters. Postmark
deadline: Monday, February 23, 1998. Details and entry
forms available at http://www.saja.org/ or by
contacting Prof. Sreenivasan, Columbia Graduate School
of Journalism (ss221@columbia.edu or 212-854-5979)
