I know nothing about the recent works. If I remember rightly there was some
discussion on Yerramsetti Sayi, on Runanandalahari, etc. a while ago here.
I am sure that Jamapalagaru can tell more about Mullapudi. Coming to your
query here are few titles that may be of interest to you. Please note that
these are not chronologically listed, but are some of the earliest. I
vaguely remember reading a long essay reviewing the "haasya rachanalu"
in Telugu in school days.
The writer whom I liked the most and who influenced me a lot was
munimaaNikyam Narasimharao (BTW! raamakRshNagaaru! He is from angalakuduru!)
.. I read Dale Carnegie much, much later, but Munimanikyam's _manchivaaLLu
maaTateeru_ was so to say a "Pflichtlektuere" (compulsory reading/presribed
book) at home.
Let me start with Kandukuri Viresalingam's: _haasya sanjeevani_
followed by
Chilakamarti Lakshminarasimham's _vinOdamulu_
Then comes:
Mokkapati Narasimha Sastri - _mokkapaaTivaari kathaanikalu_
Mokkapati Narasimha Sastri - _baarisTarugaari baataakhaani_
Mokkapati Narasimhasastri - _baarisTar paarvateeSam_
[N. Rambabu, Nalukurti - _ mokkapaaTi narasimhaSaastri rachanalu-sameexa,
Published some time in late 80s.]
Munimanikyam Narasimharao - _bhaaryanu longadeesukOvaDamelaa?_
Do - _haasya kusumaavaLi_
Do - _gaalidEvuDu_
Do - _daampatyOpanishattu_
Do - _mana haasyam_
Do - _manchivaaLLu maaTateeru_
Then there was a book Ed. by Ravuri Venkata Satyanarayanarao (well known
poet, film lyrics writer; mostly for Bhanumati films, founder of Sahitya
Kuteeram, .....) in early (?) 80s:
_navvula navaabulu: mana haasya rachayitalu_
Nanduri Ramakrishnamacharya publsihed one on humerous plays in Telugu. The
title is _haasya naaTikalu_.
In '92 during the customary visit to navOdaya shop in Guntur saw a book
published by them. The author is S. Srinivas and title goes like _haasyam,
and prahasanam_ (In English!).
I strongly guess that there 'd be a chapter on this in _Telugu Vignana
Sarvasvam_, a 11 (or 12?) Vol. work from Telugu Bhasha Samiti.

Sreenivas
