Friends!

I was going through Chilakamarti's navvulagani and realized
that humorous wrtings in Telugu literature can be counted
on fingers (may be I am underestimating). Mullapudi did
contribute a great deal of ha'sya racanalu for a number of
years. Is Mullapudi still writing? Bhanumati's attaga'ri
kadhalu are full of domestic real life humor. One book I read
a long time ago was "nirudyOgaparvam" (author not remebered) was
superb - one can not resist to burst into laughter.

I have the following questions and request someone to address
these:

(1) Old telugu ha'sya racanalu (pre 1940s) - stories, novels, poems,
dramas etc
(2) telugu ha'sya racanalu (1940-1970s) - stories, novels, poetry,
drama
(3) telugu ha'sya racanalu (1970-1990s) - stories, novels, poetry,
drama

Could you kindly list chronologically the names of telugu ha'sya
writers?

Could you kindly list their works?

Who are the current leading telugu ha'sya writers?

Finally, please discuss how much we, as a society, incline towards
enjoying humor in our literature?

What place does humor occupy in Telugu literature? A historical
perspective on this would be nice (e.g. Tenali Ramakrishna -
may be).

I am writing an essay on this which is going to be presented in
a local meeting as a talk. Also, I am trying to gather books in
this area. Any discussion on this is useful. Please don't hesitate.
I appreciate your help very much.

Thanks.
