It has been pointed out to me that my previous remarks could be
intepreted to mean that I suggested that Sreenivas threw the first flame
here. No I didn't mean that at all. I was kind of following up on
Srinivas's pun in his original post. Neither do I think we have a full
fledged flame war either, though we may be seeing the beginings of one.

What Srinivas did was to ask a question (though he was questioning a
figure revered by some) that is bound to be controversial. He did not say
anything denigrative of anybody. I do not consider his post a flame.

Veluri's response is also bound to be controversial, for he also
showed the same irreverence to a revered figure. NO doubt that them were
fighting words. But, here again it is a statement highly relevant to the
thread, and no personalities were involved.

I would have been pleased to see a vigorous response that argued why
chinnaya soori's contributions to Telugu be revered. In stead, what I saw
was a post that impugned the Telugu knowledge of Veluri and Srinivas,
likened them to brats questioning the natural order of things, and
admonished them for being involved in 'nirupayOgamaina' vivaadamulu, as if
all the other things that we are involved in this forum were more
beneficial than engaging in that particular thread. That seemed to me to be
outside of the rules of engagement for this group.

Enough of an explanation of a previous post!

Now let me turn to the protruding cheek of my prastuta mitra:

Now I know why these blizzards are coming back. This is because all
these Washingtonites have been praising them for giving them extra long
weekends ;-)
