Hi Friends and Comrades,

        I thank everybody that replied to my
        post about Caitanya Kavita (telusa/scit/per.email).

        The response, as expected, was very good.

        1) Subscription Info:

         It's not a matter of
         number_of_issues * cost_of_an_issue + postage.

         The life membership costs about 1000/
         (one thousand only). I do not know how much
         it costs to send it by airmail.

         And subscription amounts less than
         1000/ (or even more than that!!) will be appreciated equally.

         As on today, Sree Tangirala garu is away to
         hometown and will be back by Jan 10, 97.

         So please WAIT TILL THEN. I will comeback
         to you all at the right moment.

         The next issue will come out in March, 1997.

        2) Another Appeal

        My dear friends, MONEY DOESN'T A JOURNAL MAKE.

        Ultimately its literary quality is the thing that matters.
        (If you don't like one, you don't buy one)
        So remember that it's equally important to write
        poems for this journal.

        You can send ME your poems in RIT. I will do the
        rest for you.

        3) A Sample Journal

        As mentioned, a kavi darSanam on the cover-page.
        Only one essay about the cover-page poet. The rest
        are poems, poems and poems. Chandoe or verse libre.
        Translations and originals.

        In the last issue, a modern telugu poet, Saubhagya,
        translated an ANCIENT (6 century BC) greek poetess (forgot the name).
        Delightfully fresh (Yes, fresh) poems. More of her in the
        next issue due March 1997.

        Sree PALANA garu asks what "kotta_paatala melukalayika" is.
        I mean the journal welcomes chandoe poetry and verse libre.
        You can translate a modern or an ancient one.
        Please don't read anything more into the words
        kotta or paata or into the claim that it's a melu-kalayika.

        I did everything I could to help you JUDGE its quality.
        I will try to get some old journals and mail to you, later.


        4) What You Can Do To Improve The Journal

        I know there is enough literary knowledge and talent
        on this net to drink and digest an ocean.

        From Sharjah to Germany, many countries this net surfs.
        You can translate and introduce poets not usually known
        to telugu readers. 

        IMHO, most telugu readers have only heard of poets
        like Brodsky, Heanney et al. Nobody read much.
        (Few aangla kavitaa priyulu are an exception)

        There are so many whom telugu readers do not know.
        Like Modern Urdu poets, Latin American poets et al.

        I strongly believe you can fill those gaps.
