About our guest of honor :

avadhaanam is a megafeat where in the avadhaani replies back simultaneously
to questions related to various fields of literature from several pRchchakas.
It is a challenge to the memory (dhAraNa), eloquence, creativity (sRjana)
and knowledge of the avadhaani in various fields of literature. This, once
popular literary art which is unique to 'telugu language', is in need of
support and encouragement for preserving and promoting literary values among
telugu people. There are only a handful of persons left in India who can still
perform this lterary extempore with tremendous creativity and presence of
mind in this modern era and Sri Nagaphani Sarma is among the best.

Sri Sarma is a gifted artiste talented to make avadhanam easy to comprehend.
He replies back in Telugu, Hindi, and English by adopting the "Mee Prasnaku
Naa Paata" style, specially invented by him in his efforts to make aavadhanam
reach every interested soul. Sri (Dr.) Nagaphani Sarma was born in 1959, in
Anathapur District, India. His Holyness Sri Sri Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda
Swamy's Dattapeetham, Mysore India has appointed Sri Sarma as "Poet Laureati"
of his Peetham where he is currently "Datta Peetha (one of the highly
acclaimed institution keeping the Indian traditions and cultures) aasthaana
Kavi" (This institution's Resident poet). He is receipent of many awards in
India such as "Aavadhaana Sahasra Phani" and "Kavi Samraat" and Dr. Sankar
Dayal Sarma, President of India presented a unique citation to Mr. Sarma.

Sri Sarma started giving the literary performances when he was 14 and
so far has performed in more than 250 "Astaavadhaanams" , "Sataavadhaanams"
Mahasatavadhaanam (with 153 pandits/poets) in India and abroad in Sanskrit
and Telugu languages. He has successfully completed "Dwisataavadhaanam (with
225 pandits/poets) and Mahasahasraavadhaanam (1116 Pandits). Each of these
unique events are "world Records" as of today. Besides, Dr. Sarma is an
excellent singer, eloquent speaker, and one of the best poets of this century.
By the way, Sri P.V. Narasimha Rao Ex-Prime Minister of India himself has
participated in his poetic proceedings. Mr. Sarma received many awards from
Govt of India, (AP Government, Karnataka Government ...etc). He has got the
wealth of knowledge that anybody can be benefitted with, in his association.

He is the founder president of "Avadhaana Saraswati Peetham" which is under
construction in Hyderabad, India. In a nut shell, this Peetham houses a number
of disciplines such as Department of Veda Vangmayam, Dept. of Scriptural
Education, Dept. of Puranic Studies, Dept. of Literature introducing separate
divisions of Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English; Dept of Yoga and
Meditation, Dept. of Vedanta, Dept of Culture and Tradition, Dept of Herbal
Medicine, Dept of Memory Cultivation (computerized). He has written many
books, commentaries, articles on Indian Culture, Indian traditions, Indian
Mythology. He is an astrologist, yoga expert, and an expert in Vaastu science.

He is currently on a USA tour promoting Indian traditions, literature and
culture and is visiting Atlanta after performing this literary extravaganza
at Houston, LA, San Jose, St. Louis, Chicago, Columbus and Dayton.
