----Ofcourse I am not at all well versed in the puranas or any of the
----texts discussed here ... so feel free to correct me ...
I believe the feminist vein seen by Sri Prabhakar was in the character
portrayed in the taaraa Sasaankam not the character who was robbed (sic)
by candra ! I do not subscribe to the idea *if it was ever floated here*
that any/all the apsaras were feminists.
But the character that stood up for what she believed she deserved against
the then norms is what may or needs to be judged on the altar of feminism.
A discussion of the moralities of the mythological courtesans probably was
not warranted.
Any condescension of any sort from anyone is intolerable. Would all
telusaers please refrain from doing that and keep a discussion impersonal.
(I wonder if any discussion can be lively if it is impersonal though !)
Syamala Rao garu, I believe we were discussing the feminist tendencies
in one character in a chandO kaavyam. We cannot but dissect those
characters measuring them against a modern yardstick. And it was not those
who you refer to as feminists that did that. Sri Prabhakar thought the
words of taaraa fit the modern feminist thought. If you feel those
characters should not be discussed in modern terms then may be you should
address him. (just a suggestion .... no attempt to dictate anything)

Sankaram
