True. However, if one exposes one's ignorance, he/she can learn
about that exposition of ignorance only if some kind (or unkind depending
upon one's viewpoint) soul points out the said exhibition of ignorance to
the exhibiting party. Otherwise, there is a danger that the said exhibiting
party, emboldened by his/her initial display of ignorance continues with
further splendorous displays of ignorance.
However, the etiquette of this forum is such that even the most
splendorous display of ignorance needs to be addressed gently, and
sometimes it is not addressed at all. This, as you can imagine, does not
lead to the kind of educative effect that you suggest that the ignorant
one is seeking. An occasional venture to be a little more definitive in
this educative aspect usually brings out either a self-righteous protest
or a stern rebuke, and, therefore, is not attempted often. So, I have to
conclude that this forum is not the most suitable one for a voluble soul
to bare his/her ignorance in hopes of being educated about such.

An excellent question!
One definitely in need of an answer!!
