I did not say that use of halantamulu is either archaic or restricted
to chandObaddha poetry. I am not sure that Sri Palaka said that either.
I did not say that chandObaddha poetry is possible with only archaic
forms of language.
I did not say that chandObaddha poetry contains only Sanskrit words, or
that it cannot contain vaaDuka telugu bhaasha.
I did not say that all current-day poetry or all poetry employing vaaDuka
bhaasha is great.
I did not say that some thing that is a turn-off to me should be a
turn-off to him (and others) as well.
However, I did and will again say the following:
One of the reasons (and certainly not the only reason) that chandObaddha
poetry ceased to be popular is because many of the current day practitioners
of chandObaddha poetry choose topics that are archaic and use a language
style that is outdated and not in vogue. For a common reader, including
many that read poetry, this choice of topics and language style is a
definite turn-off. That is the reason why most chandObaddha works
written in the last quarter century are not known to the common reading
public even as pOtana and vEmana's works live on.
Second, I believe that poetry technic of vRUtta chandOstructure is
considered irrelevant by most of the current day writers and
reading public. Though it is possible to write chandObaddha poetry on
current day topics using current day language, I would be very surprised
if it finds any readership among those that are not already nostalgic for
chandObaddha poetry.
Third, most of the chandObaddha poetry that I see being published in our
forum may be adhering to the yati, praasa, and gaNa rules, but they are
usually good examples of using an archaic style of language. In my
opinion, that the importance given to gaNa, yati and praasa is rarely
given to bhaava and bhaasha. Even those that are fond of chandObaddha
poetry usually resort to 'free verse' and vaaDuka bhaasha when they feel
compelled to express an opinion forcefully. On any given day, the postings
by nEnE from zippo.com seem to carry more punch than the various
samasyaapooraNalu and kanda padyaalu that are being published in our forum
(again, my personal opinion).

PS: My request of a month ago for the names of popular/ important/
influential works in Telugu written in traditional chandObaddha poetry
in the last quarter century remains unanswered.
