Actually, it looks like old samasyas are used again and again. SOme of
the old favorites have been coming up in the recent times. Of course it
is incumbent on the avadhAni to solve it in a newer manner.

A minor addition to what you have already said(!).Old samasyaas were
given to trupati kavulu, kopparapu kavulu, and even my namesake
sataavadhaani too!
For instance, the samasya " saMdhyaa vandana maacariMca valadaa causeeti
baMdhaMbulan" was give at least two times to the same avadhanees! It was
also given to sree c. v. subbanna avadhaani, in recent times. If the
prucchaka does not know whether the avadhaanee is solving it in a
different way, then it is the prucchaka's ignorance to be penalised!!
Any way, if the avadhaani fails to solve it, the prucchaka is expected
to solve it!
Just want to add my two schekels worth on this 64 million dollar issue
that is earth shattering!

ps: Why not use "sadbrahmaNuDEla boMde saMkara janman" or some silly
dushkara praasa like that!
