This is to inform the interested (that includes you, Tata Prasad!) in the
DC area. A speech event is being arranged at the SSV Temple, tomorrow,
at about 1:30pm. The speaker is Kanumula Venkata Sivayya, an IAS officer
(I think in the AP Govt, may be retired now), and a poet. Those of you
with longer memories would remember as the sandhAta-coordinator/moderator
who accompanied mEDsAni mOhan, on his first tour, in '89. Later, when
avadhAnams were conducted in various cities, Venkata Sivayya introduced
the poet, gave some opening remarks, explained the procedures,...
At the end, he recited some of his poetry.

I understand there was a programme at ATA about Bharatam. "meedE teerpu",
or something along the lines. Palana wasn't too impressed with it, but
at functions like that, nothing comes across in an impressive manner.
The hilarious comedy drama "bAbOy, bAmma!" came out dull in the cavernous
parking lot that masqueraded as an auditorium at the Chicago TANA. Before
I entirely lose the connection, Venkata Sivayya came up with that
programme.

Later around the end of the month (date, place being decided) there
will be an ashTAvadhAnam event by mADugula Sarma, in the DC area. Of
course the excellent samasya "ravi bimbambudayince paScima diSan ..."
can't be used again!

Actually, it looks like old samasyas are used again and again. SOme of
the old favorites have been coming up in the recent times. Of course it
is incumbent on the avadhAni to solve it in a newer manner.
