rAmA rAo gArU,

Thanks for a detailed analysis.

Left wing poets have for long been struggling with a peculiar dilemma.
Use of politically tainted phrases and expressions alienates them from
audience who read their poetry primarily from a literary perspective.

On the other hand, when they resort to imagery and obscure prateekalu,
they run the risk of not reaching the audience that really matters to
them.

While it is true that "udyamAniki paTTina cemaTa" spills the beans as
far as the context is concerned (as you rightly pointed out, the
reference to wall posters has already done that), I would not have her
re-phrase this. I find this expression poetically rich and conveying a
poignant image that brought tears to my eyes.

In fact, as I said in my earlier post, the greatness of Mahejabeen's
poetry is the intense sense of personal identification with the
"udyamaM". To her, it is as significant in her life as their "oopirulu
penavEsukOvaDaM". (Again, neither less, nor more). If this poetry had
come from some one who did not personally experience it all, it might
have lost some of its sting.

Warm Regards,

Uday
