I am not sure at whom Vasu's ire is directed. But, he may be
happy to know that cEkoori raamaaraavu, in his cEraatalu column that
served as an itnro to most of the young writers, profiled mahejabeen as
early as July 26, 1992 (in fact the same day as the aakuraalu_kaalam poem
appeared) in Andhra Jyoti, specifically citing these two along with some
other poems of hers. SivaareDDi wrote the intro for her book, and she
acknowledges many others in this book, who -one might think- would fall
under Vasu's description of critics and highbrow academics. It seems to me
that she was noticed by quite a few. If I remember right, her poems
appeared in the anthology 'maccu_tunakalu' edited by pemmaraaju
vENUgOpaala raavu and published by TANA in 93. Incidentally, from her
writings I would surmise that she is a feminist too.
