This is what always bothers me. Isn't it possible that we
critically appreciate those which are ok and we just like, 
not those which are great? Maybe 'great' means different things
to different people.

I can cite several instances in our weeklies' reviews and criticisms where
people use all their critical talents to appreciate works which are
at best good. Those words can be equally said about other works which
merited no mention!

I say that most commentaries rarely reflect the original works'
intrinsic worth.

You like a work. You can write well. You write a eulogy.
You dislike one. You can write sarcastically. You compose a satire.
You don't care much about one. You are not interested. You keep mum!
