No doubt there are works with integrity in Telugu. Too bad that they
get lumped with the works that coast on the emotional , historical
vehicles.

I, for one, stopped trusting jnaanapeeTh award after being given to
ci.naa.re. If it were offered to me, I would be sure to spurn it. No,
it is not vanity :-).

At times, when I examine why I should be proud to be born a Telgu, I
cannot come up with an answer. Perpetual possibilities of
what-could-have-been would be interesting to speculate, but not too
illuminating.

Still, there are only three writers that I can honestly say have
enriched my life as a Telugu. In alternate world without contact with
Telugu, I would surely miss the pleasure of reading them. They are --
Koku, raaviSaa, SriSri.

This has nothing to do with my favorite writers -- I derive more
pleasure out of reading bairaagi than SriSri. Still, if I were born in
this country, I would have been equally happy with Eliot (as it is I
am).

Coming to amraavati kathalu, I enjoyed reading them ten years back. I
haven't read them again. I remember being impressed with the
collection on the whole, for the panoramic view. Individual stories
varied greatly in quality. I didn't get the feeling that I was being
cheated. May be I should read it again.

About mithunam, later.
