In reply to Sri Babu Srinivas Madabhushi:

Even in some of Ghantasala songs.. we hear "pha" in "saphalam".. and I hear most
of the people saying Safalam.. though I am not sure which is right..I just
found them to be different..

FIO:

"saphalaM" is the right word. We have to understand it as "sa+phalaM".
Here, "sa" means "having" (kaligiyunna - in telugu). "saphalam" means
success. When someones actions give good results we say "sa+plahaM"
(phalam=fruit).

Again, it is not "falaM" (fruit) it is "phalaM".
I guess, you must have mistaken for the word "capalaM" (insane)!! I heard,
in Cuddapah district they say "neekEM SafalamA!" means "are you insane!"

We do not use "Sa" (called as melike Sa, or SaMkara Sa - in telugu) for
"saphalaM".

Hope that answers your question.

Regards, Madhava

matter?

You see, I have a fascination towards this club :-) I use ISD lines to
