My observation: The explanations & contexts proferred to elucidate
what the verses ought to mean make them the modern equivalents of
a #samasyA pUraNa#, with polyvalued semantic fillings this time. (Most
classical #puraNa#s used to require a profane last line filled with three
more to make it very meaningful, didn't they ?). I make no quibbles
about the author's right to express himself in the manner he chooses. But,
have they added any value to what I experience, what I am alerted to
experience, or enhanced my experience of literature & poetry - I dare
to say no (with the routine disclaimer that it is -my- opinion).
