I was going to post something similar. Prior to the takeover by
majordomo at the wisc.edu site, all telusa messages simultaneoulsy posted
to scit used to have telusa-scit as the default option. Since the
conversion to majordomo, all posts now have the default reply option set
to telusa with telusa-scit listed as being a cc. Since then many posts
that started as telusa-scit posts had follow-up discussions only on telusa
and sometimes there was a parallel discussion on SCIT as well. I
understand that the majordomo (I speak as if I know these things - I
really don't know what a majordomo is: I am merely parrotting what I
heard) would not let us set telusa-scit as a reply to option. So what
should we do if we want to post to scit and telusa?
In the days when we had the listserv, pillalamarri raamkrishna
gaaru exhorted us to send messages to either telusa address or telusa-scit
address, but not to both. Now, we actually have to 'reply to all
recipients', or manually set the reply to
telusa-scit@smartcad4.me.wisc.edu if a reply to a telusa-scit post is to
reach scit also.
Please make sure to check the reply-to and cc fields when posting
(or replying to posts) that are of interest to scit. Remember that there
is a larger audience out there at SCIT and that most of Telusa's
membership came (and continuesto come) from SCIT.
