As far as I know, Japanese is the most prolific in terms of number of 
letters in the alphabet. The Kanji script apparently has more than 4000 
symbols (not "akSharAlu", but "cihnAlu"). Most literate Japanese, may 
however be knowing only a fraction of their entire alphabet.
